Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) 2024-25 


Dear Valued Customer,

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (Australian Quarantine Services) have released their new Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) seasonal measures

which will run from 1st of September 2024 until the 30th of April 2025.

 

The measures remain consistent with 2023-24 season with the additions of:

  • Uzbekistan being upgraded to the list of High-Risk Countries
  • China and the Republic of Korea have been added for heightened vessel surveillance
  • All break bulk, flat racks and open tops (including in-gauge) MUST be treated offshore prior to arrival into Australia
  • If goods have been shipped untreated and are transhipping, have them treated in the transhipment port to prevent export
  • Chapters 94 & 95 are subject to random inspection for emerging risk countries only
  • Emerging risk countries – UK & China only

Seasonal measures for Brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) – DAFF (agriculture.gov.au)

The 2024-25 BMSB risk season, measures will apply to;

–          Targeted goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries, and/or

–          Vessels that berth at, load, or tranship from target risk countries within the same period.

 Goods must be treated for BMSB if exported between September 1st 2024 and 30th April 2025 (inclusive)
