IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL CUSTOMERS
Brown Marmorated Stink Bug from Europe
Dear Valued Client,
You may recall that on 31 August 2016 an updated notice regarding the current situation of the “Brown Marmorated Stink Bug” (BMSB) infestations in certain breakbulk and containerised cargo shipped from the United States was sent to you and placed on our website. It is with much concern that we must also inform you that the “Department of Agriculture and Water Resources” (DAWR) has announced that the “Brown Marmorated Stink Bug” (BMSB) is now also spreading throughout Europe. DAWR is monitoring vessels and cargo arriving into Australia from European ports and is seeking assistance from shipping lines, port authorities, importers and manufacturers to help minimise the risk of the BMSB from entering our country.
DAWR has forwarded notices to shipping lines and the “Australian Federation of International Freight Forwarders” (AFIF) explaining the situation and outlining preventative actions that can be taken to help prevent the BMSB from entering Australia and possibly alleviate the need for inspection or treatment on arrival (Please see attached).
To date, there have been low levels of detection on vessels/cargo arriving into Australia, and so, no additional measures have been introduced yet. ADM Global will keep you updated on any changes to this alert.
