Empty Container Parks

Operational conditions are at breaking point in NSW with a surplus of imports over exports in recent months leading to Empty Container Park (ECP) congestion.

As of 5am Friday 21 August, ECP in NSW have not been accepting any de-hire units until further notice due to space restrictions “as they are again over capacity”. Shipping line re-directions are causing chaos for transport operators with costs generally being passed onto importers.

We are also experiencing the avoidance of relief from shipping lines on container detention de-hire fees and multiple ECPs (nationally) taking the ‘soft’ option of increasing container de-hire booking fees.

Our industry representatives have raised this pricing matter with executives at Transport for NSW and will continue our engagement on operational reform via the Empty Container Working Group facilitated by Transport for NSW and NSW Ports.

Yours faithfully,
ADM Global Pty Ltd
