Lithium Ion Batteries
Dear Valued Client,
Please be advised we have been informed by the International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO) regarding the carriage and cargo of lithium ion batteries on passenger aircraft.
The ICAO Council confirmed 22 February the Recommendation of the Air Navigation Commission that prohibits, on an interim basis, lithium ion batteries, UN 3480 only, as cargo on passenger aircraft. This prohibition is effective 1 April 2016.
ICAO will, within the next few days issue Addendum 4 to the 2015 – 2016 Technical Instructions as well as an addendum to the 57th edition of the Dangerous Goods Regulations at that time.
