Ongoing delays in Biosecurity Entry Processing

Please be advised the Department of Agriculture & Water Resources (DAWR) have confirmed there are still currently high volumes of entries in queue for processing.

From a trade perspective, the biggest news from the 21/22 budget concerns biosecurity which will receive a massive $400.00 million funding boost. This is crucial for importers who face delayed biosecurity clearance of their goods. It will also help maintain the credibility of Australia’s exports.

While this paints an improved longer-term picture, the immediate impact is that entry processing delays is resulting in missed timeslots, storage fees at terminals and will undoubtedly also result in container detention fees being generated by shipping lines for the late de-hire of empty containers.

ADM Global will continue to work with all industry partners to minimise all/any additional costs incurred to these processing delays by DAWR.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your account representative.

Yours faithfully,
