As you will recall, back in June 2016, The Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) advised the importing community that they received legal advice of the required necessary changes to the “Packing Declaration”. The “Prohibited Packing Material Statement” was to be replaced with “The Unacceptable Packing Material Statement”. DAWR allowed a transition period to ensure there was enough time for the changes to be met. DAWR has now advised that under The Biosecurity Act 2015, the changes will become mandatory from 17 June 2017. This means it will affect single shipment and annual packing declarations for all FCL & LCL shipments cleared on or after 17 June 2017.
It is important that your suppliers/packers are informed of this change to ensure they comply after 16 June 2017.
